Ivy Oxford
While working in a variety of kitchens in my home state of Oregon, USA, I came to the conclusion that it was time for a change. I packed my bags and found myself in New Zealand in late 2019, settling down in Nelson and donning the crisp collars of a cocktail waitress in a whisky bar and cocktail lounge called Kismet. This was my introduction to the wide, wide world of hospitality as a vocation.
When I felt I had learned all I could from that humble town, I graduated to Wellington and the vast array of opportunities it offered. After a brief look around town, I made a home at El Horno, taking over as General Manager and exploring the main strip of Wellington hospitality night life.
I’ve since gotten myself involved in some of the many interest groups around the city, and it is with a sparkle in my eye and a skip in my step that I pursue enthusiasm in the Welly hospo workforce. With only 4 years of tending under my belt, I’m arriving curious and cautious to whatever challenges walk into the bar.
